Off To See The Wizard...

Off To See The Wizard...
A Personal Journey Down The Yellow Brick Road

Now Available on LuLu.com

Somewhere over the rainbow is an enchanted realm full of mystery and magic that has captured the hearts and inspired the imagination of millions throughout the world. Published in 1900, L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz provided a much needed escape for many lonely dreamers at a difficult and troubled time. It's no different today, and obviously... it was no different for me. Come take a walk with me as I showcase my renditions of L. Frank Baum's citizens of Oz.

Why The Hiatus?

There's been a great deal of periodical silence across both this blog and my one over at Bravenet. We all know the road of life can unexpectedly curve and swerve when you least expect it, and you have to deal with the new direction you're facing. Life has been busy the past few weeks. My computer died. Its replacement died. I finally have a brand new computer now, but I still have to fork over almost $1,000 for data recovery. Ouch. Suck it up and deal... 'cause it's not an option. Estimate #3 is on Wednesday. *keeps fingers crossed*

I've also been in sort-of mental funk the past few weeks. Unsure of my footing, and a bit nostalgic. Tired. Waiting for the Universe to step in and do something grand to restore that sense of "Oooh" and "Ahhh" to my life. Maybe I need to step out and restore that feeling on my own.

I'm trying to sort out a few upcoming projects on my plate too... decide which ones get the "thumbs up", and which ones don't. Good things on the horizon.

So Much Silence

So it's been almost a month since I've had a chance to swing by Blogspot and post anything here. I have a good reason though (I always do). LOL. I've been insanely busy. I've spent the better part of the past few weeks updating my online shops (still in progress). I'm trying to get them ready so I can start doing some advertsing in a month or two. I need to start generating some traffic their way. Today I actually opened a basic gallery at Imagekind.com too (the link is in the sidebar). I've been working on two different art series at the moment: "The Ladies Divine" is a goddesses series that I started in late 2008, and the "Wizard of Oz" series is something that just sort of happened. That series is almost at its end with a few calendars and a compilation book in the works when it's finished. Yes, I have been busy. LOL.

Dreaming of Travolta

Here's an odd one: In this dream, my sister and I were back in our parents' old house (and younger). I was about 15 or so, and my sister looked in her late twenties (she's thirteen years older than me). My mother was in the spare room sitting at the sewing machine making something. She was wearing this red "Richard Simmons" wig she used to keep hidden in a drawer. *raises eyebrow* John Travolta was also in our house... but this was a young John... from his "Welcome Back, Kotter" days. He was strutting around our house acting all "tough-guy" wearing his Barbarino bell-bottoms. LOL. Now... here is where is gets really strange. He would go over to our fridge, grab a milk container, and pour it all over one of our mirrors. WTF? Our fridge seemed to be filled with an endless supply of milk containers. He kept doing this over and over again, and wouldn't stop, despite how frustrated my sister and I were getting.

Things I Want

Brahm's Bookworks

I have been in love with Brahm's Bookworks since the first day I laid eyes on their amazing grimoires. Now that I've finally finished paying off one of my large consolidation loans (five years of $400 a month going out the door), and after I catch up on some minor overdue bills... I firmly intend to put some cash aside and buy myself one of their books as a "Congratulations! You finished those evil loan payments" self-gift. LOL. As if I need a reason to go out and spend money. LOL. Have I mentioned my theory that in a past life I was a fabulously wealthy sultan... because I have no concept of money in THIS life. LOL. Unfortunately, I am no longer that fabulously wealthy sultan.

I'm not even certain which book I'd get, but there are two designs I'm keeping my eyes on often!
